Out Like A Lion
I guess Mother Nature didn't get the memo about Spring arriving a week ago and sent this morning's snow storm here, rather than it's rightful owner, Bismark. That said, it did create a beautiful blanket of snow over everything so rather than jogging through it this morning wishing it was warmer, I took a camera and tried to find a nice photo. I know... a camera?....jogging?!? But like I always tell my wife, what if an F-16 crashed in front of me? -BN

Organic Farmer
I met this interesting guy who used to be a ballet dancer in NYC and has since decided to promote a healthy lifestyle by growing organic food in Kaysville for people to purchase. The story was on the docket to run tomorrow (Monday) in the Deseret Morning News so I thought I would post a more artsy fartsy shot since they may run different photos. -BN

Easter Fun
I really wish I could take credit for this photo but sadly, I cannot. As I was laying on my sick bed with a touch of strep, my wife hauled the well dressed sugar-a-holics to grandmas for an Easter egg hunt and the obligatory photo op. I was pleasantly surprised to find this on my camera when they returned. She has always preferred the small, credit card size point and shoot cameras to my behemoths but after today, I think there is hope. Nice work. -BN

Green or Not, Oatmeal is Still Bad
So I thought that dying the breakfast green would actually help the kids be excited about eating it. It worked for the two that usually eat it up anyway, but the E-Man was in true form pushing it back to me. When I was young, I thought it was child abuse that my parents fed us oatmeal everyday. I guess the saying is true, "The older I get the smarter my parents become." -BN

Organist
About a month ago, I went to a movie at the Egyptian Theater in Ogden which is a rare occasion because it's actually a theater with a stage for ballet, symphonic and theatrical performances. Before the movie, there was this guy playing the historic organ which has been in the theater for who know how long. It was like I had stepped back in time. Here are his hands, which have been playing organ and piano for most of his life. -BN

McDonald's and Mothers-In-Law
My mother-in-law is one of the kindest, sweetest and most caring people I know. I don't think I have ever seen her loose her cool, yell, show anger or "lose it" in any way. We are lucky to have her as a constant source of unconditional love she shows to my children. This photo is a great one of her despite the McDonald's Mayhem surrounding her. -BN

Rainy Days & Thursdays
So I know that many photographers wait for a good rainstorm to get a photo like this, including me. Not that I consciously wait around and anticipate it but since I had a few minutes to look around, and it happened to be raining, and I had my 100mm macro lens, (often I don't) I was able to get this shot. -BN

Wolf Mountain
I met some great skiers/boarders today at Wolf Mountain. If you know anything about Wolf Mountain, you wouldn't believe me if I told you that they were still open. And I bet they are open maybe another month. Huntsville and Eden got pounded with snow this year which means another month of cheap night skiing. Woo Hoo!! By the way, this is Nick Keefer who is sponsored by Exile, a local ski/board shop in Ogden. He is also looking to open up his own snow movie production studio. -BN

Mt. Ogden Chute
So today I did something I haven't done before. I skied through a very steep chute at the top of the Wasatch Front, the Mount Ogden Chute. I actually didn't really SKI the chute. I made a few wobbly turns, crashed once and slid, stopped, took some photos, made a couple more turns, crashed again losing my ski which slid into Pineview Reservoir. After crashing, I took more photos since I had stopped... abruptly, carefully made my way down the mountain on one ski, (and no poles), fished my ski out of the dam, made some more wobbly turns, and took a few more photos. By this time, it was no longer a chute but had opened up into a wide choppy snow field. I didn't crash again but I also didn't ski the chute again. To say the least, it was work. And here's the photo of the day. -BN

Press Conf. Alternative
So I shot a press conference today and thought I had a decent shot from it but I just couldn't make it work. I liked the repetition in this photo and what really would have helped it is if the kid had turned around or at least walked past. Didn't happen but it's still better than a press conference. -BN

I CAN DO - Take One
So every year for the last four or five, I have covered the I. C.A.N D.O. program sponsored by Ballet West. It's a program set up to help kids stay in school and teaches them a little something about dance. It was a tough choice for the daily photo but I chose this one over an action shot. The girl is looking at members of her family.

Honey Do Science for Kids
So the E-Man got a solar system set up for his room as a Christmas present and like most gifts for kids, it broke on December 26th. Mmm.chocolate usually is different than me in that she will call the company to demand a replacement and I will try and fix it. We both got our way because I fixed it...temporarily...then two weeks later she called the company and demanded a replacement. I guess this is the gift that keeps on giving, they were just as excited today as they were on Christmas. -BN
